What is Registration, Licensing, Accreditation?

Registration is an official recognition of the operation of social welfare and development agencies (SWDA) within the purview of social welfare and development through issuance of a Certificate of Registration issued by DSWD and inclusion in the Registry of Social Welfare and Development Agencies. Exempted from registration and license (and will only be subjected to accreditation) are, viz:-

  1. LGU community based and residential care services;
  2. DSWD community based and residential care services;
  3. National Government Agencies (NGAs) and Government Owned and Controlled Corporations (GOCCs) Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) Services like Day Care and Child Minding Services, etc; and
  4. Those NGOs created by law.

Licensing is the provision of a legal permit to operate as such, after having met or complied with certain standards and requirements.

Accreditation is the process of providing official recognition to the social welfare and development (SWD) programs and services of the licensed agency after meeting the minimum standards set by the government. It ensures that delivery of programs and services are within set standards.
